Questions

Does Scribe work without an internet connection?
Yes. The recognition runs on your own PC, so dictation works on a plane, on a train or with the wifi switched off. You need a connection when you set it up (it downloads the speech model once) and when you sign the device in to your account. After that Scribe only goes online briefly about once a month, to confirm that your account still owns it.
Which programs does it type into?
Any Windows program with a text cursor — Word, Outlook, Chrome, Edge, Slack, Teams, Notion, WhatsApp, VS Code, your CRM, the search bar. Scribe types the text in where you were already typing instead of integrating with each program, so there is no plugin and no list of supported apps to check.
Which languages can it recognise?
Twenty-three: English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Swedish, Danish, Finnish, Czech, Slovak, Hungarian, Romanian, Croatian, Estonian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Russian, Ukrainian, Bulgarian and Greek. Every tier recognises all of them, and you can switch language without reinstalling anything.
Is my voice sent to a server?
No. Your audio is turned into text on your own machine and is not uploaded, not stored by us and not used to train anything. Scribe contains no telemetry and no analytics. The only things that reach us are your sign-in and the activation check. Never what you say.
Does Scribe use Whisper?
No. Scribe does the recognition on your own PC with its own engine. Whisper-based tools can be excellent, but most of the well-known ones send your audio to a server; Scribe does not.
How is it different from Windows voice typing?
Windows has built-in dictation, and for a sentence here and there it is fine. Scribe is built for people who dictate all day: a push-to-talk key that works in every program, punctuation and capitals without saying them, spoken commands, optional filler-word removal, your own vocabulary for names and jargon, and text that lands in the window you were in.
How does it compare to cloud dictation tools like Wispr Flow or Otter?
The difference that matters is where the audio goes. Cloud tools do the recognition on their servers, which is why they need a connection and a running subscription. Scribe does it on your PC, works offline, and can be bought once instead of rented.
Is it a subscription or a one-time purchase?
Both are offered, and you choose at checkout. One-time from €19 keeps working forever, with updates included. A yearly plan from €12 a year is cheaper to start: you pay the first year up front, and after that it simply carries on month by month at a twelfth of the yearly price (€12 a year becomes €1 a month). You can cancel any month.
Can I use it on more than one computer?
Yes, that is what the tiers are for: Minimum covers one device, Standard three, Maximum ten. Minimum and Standard are for one person on their own devices; Maximum is for a team. Devices are signed in to your account, and you can release one in your account when you replace a machine.
Do I need a fast PC or a graphics card?
No graphics card. Scribe runs on an ordinary processor, on Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit). Setting it up downloads the recognition once — after that it stays on your disk and never downloads again.
Is there a word limit?
No. Dictate as much as you like — no word limit and no time limit, in every tier. The tiers differ in how many devices you can use and in a few extras, never in how much you may say.
Can I install it before I pay?
Yes, installing is free: download it and check that it runs on your PC. Dictating itself needs a purchase — it unlocks as soon as your account owns Scribe.
Why does Windows warn me when I install it?
Because the installer is not signed with a certificate yet, Windows SmartScreen shows a blue notice for programs it has not seen often. Click “More info”, then “Run anyway”. We are buying a signing certificate; it removes the notice, it does not change the program.
What if it is not for me?
